Third AMP Symposium on quality and strategies in scientific communication

The Third AMP Symposium gathered editors and technical advisors, authors, reviewers and medical students for an intense debate on the major challenges that biomedical scientific edition is facing in Portugal.

This meeting aimed to provide physicians and other partners interested in scientific publication with useful tools and strategies for research dissemination.

The different contributions allowed for the identification of cross-cutting issues, particularly those regarding the need for financial sustainability, professionalization of the editorial board, prevention and management of plagiarism and fraud and indexation into international databases.

In the global context of peer-to-peer communication and ultimately of patient-doctor communication, several management strategies on the relationships between authors and reviewers were also discussed.

The AMP Symposium, held annually by the Acta Médica Portuguesa, the scientific journal of the Ordem dos Médicos (Portuguese College of Physicians), has become the most suitable setting for sharing experiences and knowledge between different stakeholders in scientific edition, national and even internationally.

From 2015, the Program and Schedule of the Fourth AMP Symposium - scheduled for September 26, 2015 - will have significant changes in its layout, compared to previous years.
