A list was just released identifying the academic papers  that drew most of the readers' attention throughout 2017. This is based on sources monitored by Altmetric, which includes traditional and social media, as well as blogs, amongst others. The top 100 this year is dominated by articles from Lancet, BMJ, JAMA, NEJM, Annals and Jama Internal Medicine.
