Endocrine-metabolic response to fasting, physical exercise and trauma.

Descrevem-se as alterações metabólicas relacionadas com o fornecimento de nutrientes energéticos aos diferentes tecidos verificadas no jejum, durante o exercício físico e após traumatismo acidental ou cirurgia e analisam-se os prováveis mecanismos reguladores não hormonais e hormonais. Não se faz uma revisão exaustiva nem uma discussão da vasta literatura existente sobre este assunto, mas uma súmula de conhecimentos sobre um tema relacionado com aspectos clínicos importantes tais como as correcções por via entérica ou parentérica de situações de desnutrição ou de estados catabólicos graves que acompanham diversas patologias.
