Five strains of Cryptococcus neoformans isolated from the cerebro-spinal fluid and 4 from the blood of AIDS patients, were studied. Although morphologically identical, they differed in the auxanographic pattern. All strains were pathogenic for mice by intracerebral route. Six isolates were sensitive and the other three resistant to 5-fluorocytosine. All strains were sensitive to the other antifungal tested: nystatin, amphotericin B, clotrimazole, miconazole, econazole and ketoconazole.Downloads
