The diabetic foot.

A review of the physiopathology of foot problems in diabetics is presented and the need for all the members of the health care team to take part in educating the diabetic in appropriated foot care is stressed. A quick evaluation of three components (vascular, neuropathic and infectious) is essential. Primary and secondary prevention with proper evaluation of predisposing and precipitating factors are stressed as fundamental to reduce the number of amputations and improve quality of life.Downloads
