Effects of Intravenous Administration of Antigen on Lymphocyte Localization and Blood Flow into the Mouse Spleen.

Abstract

The present paper investigates whether the increased lymphocyte localization into the spleen, which occurs early after the i.v. injection of some antigens, is related to an increase in the blood flow to that organ. For this purpose the fractional distribution of cardiac output to the spleen using the 86Rb Cl method, was studied at different intervals after the i.v. administration of agents known to be able to induce strong trapping. The results show no correlation between the accumulation of recirculating cells into the spleen and changes in blood flow.
