Os A. A. fazem uma breve revisão da literatura sobre úlcera solitária do recto e da síndrome do períneo descendente. A propósito de um caso referem as dificuldades diagnósticas clínicas e anátomo-patológicas experimentadas. Concluem pela importância do conhecimento da síndrome do períneo descendente para o diagnóstico diferencial das úlceras solitárias do recto. Salientam ainda a influência favorável que a gravidez teve na sintomatologia e a cura conseguida pela cirurgia reparadora do períneo.
