Numa breve introdução referem-se alguns conselhos práticos acerca da auscultação das valvulopatias. Revêem-se os problemas do diagnostico diferencial estetoacústico e das formas silenciosas de doença valvular: os rodados diastólicos sem estenose mitral orgânica, as chamadas estenoses mitrais silenciosas, as irradiações atípicas dos sopros de regurgitação mitral, os falsos diagnósticos de insuficiência em casos de aperto mitral, os casos de irradiação atípica do sopro sistólico de estenose aórtica, as estenoses aórticas silenciosas, as insuficiências mitrais silenciosas e as formas de irradiação atípica do sopro de insuficiência aórtica.
