Carcinoid tumor in cystic teratoma of the ovary. Apropos of a case.

Apresenta-se um caso de teratoma cístico do ovário desenvolvido numa mulher de 75 anos de idade. Na parede do teratoma individualizou-se um nódulo de 20 mm de diâmetro, em grande parte constituído por estrutura tireóidea e tumor carcinóide. O tumor carcinóide separava-se do tecido tireoideu por delgado septo fibroso e evidenciava íntima relação com epitélio respiratório do teratoma. O estudo ultrastrutural confirmou a natureza tireóidea e carcinóide daquelas estruturas e mostrou, no carcinóide, numerosos grânulos citoplasmáticos de tipo neuro-endócrino predominantemente polimorfos. As características histológicas e ultrastruturais da lesão levam a admitir que, neste caso, o tumor carcinóide teve origem no epitélio respiratório do teratoma.
