Este artigo refere-se às diversas ansas de retro-controle implicadas na regulação da reprodução dos primatas. São descritos OS diversos métodos experimentais, morfológicos, endócrinos e cirúrgicos, utilizados na identificação dos vários mecanismos mencionados. Os estrogéneos ováricos constituem a principal substância reguladora da secreção de gonadotropinas por parte da hipófise, quer por acção directa quer através da secreção hipotalâmica de LRH.
