Resumo

In the last decade's cardiovascular risk factors evaluation and identification have been priority issues. In the 90's, the Second Joint European Task Force developed a chart for the evaluation of a 10 years coronary risk. The chart is based on sex, age, diabetes presence, systolic blood pressure, total cholesterol and smoking habits. Since then, this chart has been currently used both in clinical practice and in clinical trials. A closer evaluation of the chart shows that some factors could silence the global action of the other factors. These major factors assume a prevailing role in global coronary risk results, having direct implications in clinical decisions and limiting the population's definition in clinical trials, based in chart results.
